December 1, 2006 -- HYSO was recently featured in the Fall 2006 issue of Campus Facility Maintenance. The article, “Restroom Care: In Your Crosshairs,” discusses the negative effects that poor restroom maintenance can have on a college campus. Below is an excerpt from the article:
“With an estimated 25 percent of people leaving the restroom with bacteria on their hands, colleges can’t chance an unsafe exit. These usual touch-free devices need to be part of an entire program with a goal of leaving contamination at the door … and with the introduction of a new technology, that statement is to be taken literally. ‘It is obvious to me that one area is being overlooked and that is the exit door handle,’ indicates Simon Sassoon, managing partner of HYSO, Hygienic Solutions. ‘At any given time there is upwards of at least one hundred different bacteria on the door handle.’ New to the market, HYSO is a programmable device that is mounted on the exit door near its handle to prevent users from touching a contaminated handle.”
